On May 14, 2024, ISAR Ednannia will host a panel discussion titled ‘What Should We Do About Telegram?’.

The recent blocking and subsequent restoration of official Ukrainian Telegram bots have reignited discussions about the need to restrict the use of this Russian messenger. Specifically, this concerns civil society organizations (CSOs), which extensively utilize the service due to its apparent technical advantages.

During the panel discussion ‘What Should We Do About Telegram?’, we will discuss the following questions:

  • What are the prospects for restricting Telegram's operations in Ukraine?
  • Is it truly irreplaceable? Alternative messengers that are not embarrassing to use;
  • Transitioning audiences from Telegram: how to maintain coverage and access to target audiences?
  • Curiosities and SMM trends in the ‘third sector’: how to avoid being boring, not turn into yellow media, and not overdo it with cat memes.

Event Participants:

  • Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech;
  • Mykola Malukha, Communications Director of CASE Ukraine, Coordinator of the "The Price of the State" project;
  • Maria Kravchenko, Communications Expert, Founder of the ‘Dostup’ charitable foundation.

Time: 18:30 – 20:30. A Q&A session is planned. Moderator: Oleksiy Gordyeyev.

Registration is available at the link. The exact location of the event will be notified to confirmed participants.
