Challenging times for Ukraine have given rise to unique examples where institutions not traditionally involved in charity or military support step up to raise funds for the country’s defenders.
Founded in 2000 by Georgiy Gongadze, Ukrainska Pravda has consistently supported civil society and actively engaged with critical national issues. Since the start of the full-scale war, the publication has raised over 150 million UAH for the Defense Forces. In May this year, in partnership with the SavED Foundation, Ukrainska Pravda opened the largest educational shelter in Mykolaiv, covering 1.000 square meters.
During the panel discussion Heroes’ Backbone: Stories of Ukrainian Fundraising in Wartimes at the Professional Fundraisers Summit, Ukrainska Pravda's editor-in-chief, Sevgil Musaieva, will share insights on how to combine journalism with fundraising initiatives effectively.
The Summit, organized by ISAR Ednannia, will happen tomorrow – September 12.
Look forward to seeing you there!
War-related fundraising remains one of the key areas for attracting funds, as the war continues and Ukraine’s defenders require constant help to effectively resist the enemy and support the country’s independence.
The Corporation of Monsters Charitable Foundation has been operating since the start of the war in 2014, actively helping displaced Ukrainians from the eastern oblasts, although the foundation was officially registered in 2017. Since the full-scale invasion, the organization has been actively supporting war-related needs and, over the past two years, has raised over 560 million UAH for drones, communication equipment, tactical medicine, transportation, and much more.
During the panel discussion on the challenges of war-related fundraising, the founder of the foundation, Kateryna Nozhevnikova, will share cases that may be useful for other charitable organizations facing difficulties in raising funds for war-related needs.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
The Come Back Alive Foundation has been supporting Ukraine since 2014. To enhance the Defense Forces' effectiveness and save defenders' lives, the organization provides them with equipment, vehicles, communication equipment, surveillance and strike drone systems, and more. From February 24, 2022, to September 2024, the Foundation has raised over 12 billion UAH for Ukraine's defenders.
Deputy Director of the Foundation Oleh Karpenko will be one of the keynote speakers at the Heroes' Backbone Summit of Professional Fundraisers, organized by ISAR Ednannia on September 12 in Kyiv.
As a former soldier, Oleh has firsthand knowledge of the Ukrainian defenders’ real needs and daily challenges. His presentation will focus on innovative and practical fundraising cases for supporting the military and lifehacks on where to find new ideas and how to keep going when the needs keep growing, but resources are decreasing.

We invite you to join the workshop Financial Risks in Fundraising and How to Avoid Them at the Heroes’ Backbone Professional Fundraisers Summit, organized by ISAR Ednannia on September 12 in Kyiv.
During the session, you’ll get answers to crucial questions such as what documents are needed if a charitable foundation wants to open an account in a foreign bank or what are the specific challenges of this process. You will also learn how to protect charitable accounts from cybercriminals and train your staff in cybersecurity best practices for financial transactions.
For charitable organizations, having accounts in foreign banks is often necessary to receive funds from international donors. Lyudmyla Slobodianyk, Director of Compliance Department at Raiffeisen Bank, will clearly explain the requirements of both European and Ukrainian banks.
Her colleague, Ruslana Okrug, Head of Information Security, will share insights on how to safeguard your organization from hacker attacks and how to train employees to handle sensitive information with caution.
For more details on this and other valuable workshops at the Summit, please refer to the event program.
