On September 12, ISAR Ednannia hosted the second Heroes' Backbone Professional Fundraisers' Summit. Nearly a thousand representatives of charitable organizations and volunteer initiatives from all over Ukraine gathered in Kyiv to discuss the challenges and opportunities for strategic philanthropy in our country at wartimes.
Speakers at the Summit included representatives from the Office of the President, USAID/Ukraine Mission, the International Renaissance Foundation, and the European Endowment for Democracy. Director of the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation Andriy Shuvalov and Deputy Director of the Come Back Alive Foundation Oleh Karpenko spoke about the unique specifics of wartime fundraising and how to find resources to support Ukraine’s defenders in the tenth year of war, as many are out of strength and motivation. Svitlana Pugach, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Tabletochky Charity Foundation, shared insights on international fundraising. At the same time Valeria Tatarchuk, founder of the Your Support Charity Foundation discussed effective strategies for engaging businesses and celebrities in financing social and charitable projects.
ISAR Ednannia presented the book Heroes' Backbone: Stories of Ukrainian Fundraising and Support at the Summit. During the panel discussion on the book, Andriy Nemyrovskyy, Head and Founder of the Volunteering and Help Center, shared how much and in what ways his organization gathers humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, Sevgil Musaieva, Editor-in-Chief of Ukrainska Pravda, shared her unique experience in combining journalism with fundraising.
The Summit also featured 30 more compelling speakers. During the Power Talk session Mission to Inspire: Stories of Heroes' Backbone, fundraisers discussed philanthropy in times of crisis, the secrets to successful communication with donors, and how to build fundraising processes from scratch. In addition, ISAR Ednannia presented a research study at the Summit on the activities of donor and international organizations in Ukraine during 2022-2024.
