We did it! The XIII Civil Society Development Forum (with)STAND this year was all about unity and resilience. More than 4,000 of us gathered under one roof, with an additional 3,500 joining online to discuss challenges, share experiences, and find new solutions for the future.
The Forum is the largest platform for dialogue between representatives of civil society, businesses, media, government authorities, local self-government, and the donor community, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the EU Delegation, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Renaissance Foundation, and many others.
“This Forum reflects the pressing needs of Ukrainian society today. The message is simple: we need to stand strong and withstand. For this, we must remain united, seek common ground, and, even after heated debates on social media, return to action—donating, supporting veteran businesses, strengthening our communities, and carrying out the hundreds and thousands of incredible projects you are showcasing at this Forum,” addressed Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, to civil society representatives.
“We are grateful for the contributions of civil society and volunteers driving historic change. In recent years, civil society has faced immense pressure, financial instability, and staff shortages. Yet, despite these challenges, you remain at the forefront of Ukraine's success. Your advocacy provides essential help to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, advances Ukrainian industry, fosters partnerships with allies, and drives the critical reforms necessary for EU integration. You ensure transparency, accountability, and the rule of law,” emphasized Julie Koenen, USAID Ukraine Mission Director, during her address at the Forum.
"What sets Ukraine apart is the strength of its civil society. It is not only the foundation of democracy but also, as it turns out, the foundation of resilience. I remember 2022, when the full-scale invasion began, and on February 25, we were already adjusting programs, reaching out to civil society, our partners, and grant recipients, telling them: do whatever is necessary in your communities to fight for your freedom. It was challenging, but civil society accomplished this. I am glad, that we also contributed to this by providing you with the opportunities," remarked Katarína Mathernová, the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, during the Forum.
This year's Forum had:
220 speakers;
18 simultaneous locations;
12 panel and interactive discussions;
45 workshops and sectional discussions;
13 donor presentations;
28 discussions at the Candyshop space;
6 partner exhibitions;
14 veteran businesses;
15 psychological relief masterclasses.
It was a day of inspiring speeches, open discussions, new partnerships, and ambitious plans. Together, we demonstrated that civil society is the pillar that supports us, even in the toughest times.
