Optimists who believe the war will end soon are rare in Ukraine now. Sociological surveys reveal the pressing question - how to survive such a long and harsh war. How do we adapt to life during an exhausting conflict that demands resilience, endurance, and the ability to function under harsh circumstances?

This critical topic was at the heart of the panel discussion ‘How Can We withSTAND a Long War?’ held at the XIII Civil Society Development Forum (with)STAND. Organized in partnership with Ukraїner, the discussion brought together leading Ukrainian intellectuals to explore societal resilience and the crucial role of civil society in shaping the nation’s future.

Speakers addressed the strategic challenges of war, issues of identity, and pathways to overcoming social and economic hardships, offering insights and strategies to help the nation endure and withstand.

The panel featured interesting participants, including publicist and journalist Vitaly Portnikov, founder and director of the Dignitas Fund Lyubov Shipovych, Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yevhen Golovakha, and Director of the Frontier Institute and member of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne Yevhen Hlibovytsky.
