How can Ukraine’s democratic choice remain consistent in the face of war? What is the contribution of civil society organizations and the media in supporting democratic processes? Can Ukraine become an example of upholding the values of freedom during wartime?

Participants of the panel discussion Doomed to Democracy: How Ukraine Stays Committed to Be a Free State Despite the War at Forum at the XIII Civil Society Development Forum (with)STAND explored answers to these pressing questions.

The discussion in partnership with Ukrainska Pravda and the UP Club, brought together leading experts, civil society leaders, and journalists. Among the panelists were the Chair of the OPORA Network Olga Aivazovska, journalist Andriy Kulykov, lecturer at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Valerii Pekar, constitutional law project leader at the Center for Policy and Legal Reform Yuliia Kyrychenko, and Head of the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine Anna Onyshchenko. Roman Romaniuk moderated this discussion.

They addressed the threats to democracy in Ukraine, offering deep insights and perspectives on the current challenges.
