The Norwegian-Swedish Askold and Dir Fund is now operating in Ukraine. This initiative is made possible through the support of ISAR Ednannia by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Administered by ISAR Ednannia, the Askold and Dir Fund represents a strategic investment by our Scandinavian partners in building a strong and resilient civil society in Ukraine.

Why Askold and Dir?

Askold and Dir were the legendary first Kyivan princes of Varangian origin who laid the foundation of our statehood and first introduced Kyiv to the international stage. By naming the Fund in their honor, we pay tribute to the deep and enduring ties between Ukraine and the Scandinavian nations, highlighting their significant contribution to the formation of our country. This symbolic bridge between the past and present serves as a reminder of the historical role Scandinavian countries have and continue to play in developing Ukrainian statehood.

What is the Mission of the Askold and Dir Fund?

In partnership with Norad and Sida, we will strengthen civil society organizations dedicated to Ukrainian recovery and advancing democratic processes.

What Does the Askold and Dir Fund Offers for CSOs?

🔹Grants for organizational development, recovery efforts, advocacy, research, and media campaigns.

🔹Training through workshops, webinars, and specialized educational programs.

🔹Support and networking to strengthen civil society collaboration.

Additionally, the Civil Society Development Platform Marketplace will be updated, allowing CSOs to connect with service providers and enhance organizational capacity.

All of this will be carried out within the framework of the Strong Civil Society of Ukraine a Driver Towards Reforms and Democracy Project, implemented by ISAR Ednannia with the support of Norad and Sida.

Scandinavian support will help build a strong and democratic Ukraine.
