During the ongoing war, there is a growing public demand for effective communication skills with veterans. In response to this need, Vesta Fund, supported by ISAR Ednannia, held a training session at the Civil Society Home, bringing together around 50 participants. The event aimed to strengthen the capacity of veteran and pro-veteran organizations.
At Vesta Fund, they emphasize that no two veterans are alike. People of different ages, professions, and social backgrounds participate in the war. Each individual has a unique life story, yet they are united by a shared combat experience. While there is no universal formula for communication, there are several key principles worth following:
✅ Respect experience.
✅ Learn to listen — sometimes, this alone is enough to provide meaningful support.
✅ Show empathy and compassion without pity.
✅ Genuinely engage with interest.
✅ Communicate directly and honestly.
The training sparked true interest among participants and became a platform for open and honest discussion. Such events help improve the understanding of veterans' needs and the work of veteran organizations, contributing to the development of a society where veterans receive the respect and support, they deserve.
