The project supporting civil society organizations (CSOs) in frontline areas of Ukraine concluded, marking an important step in strengthening civil society and supporting people living under the challenging conditions of war. ISAR Ednannia administered the grant support for CSOs within the framework of the UNDP Small Grants Programme, as part of the EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine Project, funded by the European Union, the Governments of Denmark and the Netherlands.

The project has been highly impactful and has significantly influenced life in communities:

🔹 139 organizations received grants totaling over USD 1.5 million.
🔹 91,000 people received direct support.
🔹 1,586,400 people were reached through project initiatives.
🔹 Grant competitions covered 12 oblasts of Ukraine, including frontline communities and areas with a high number of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Project allowed:

Creating Comprehensive Security System: 33 projects significantly enhanced community protection by installing video surveillance systems, setting up safe public transport stops, creating shelters in schools, providing equipment for rescue teams, and conducting first aid training for thousands of local residents.

Supporting Spaces for Veterans and Their Families: Veteran support centers were opened in 8 communities, while 23 projects provided psychological assistance through art therapy, training sessions, and individual consultations.

Economic Recovery: 18 social enterprises created new jobs and contributed to the financial stability of communities.

Prioritizing the Mental Health of Rescuers: 8 psychological relief rooms were established to help those who save others regain their strength.

Engaging Youth in Building the Future: 9 youth hubs became centers for integration and development, bringing together local youth and IDPs through shared educational and creative initiatives.

Ensuring Legal Protection for the Most Vulnerable: 8 projects provided free legal assistance to those in greatest need.

Implementing Environmental Initiatives: 5 projects improved environmental conditions and promote responsible consumption and recycling practices.

Establishing Inclusive Spaces: 6 projects facilitated the full integration of people with disabilities into community life.

Expanding Educational Opportunities: 18 educational programs covered various fields from business skills and digital literacy to first aid training and English language learning.
