As part of a cooperation between ISAR Ednannia and the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation, the Civil Society Home hosted a presentation on the Community Development Success Index. It aims to create a simple yet meaningful tool for objectively assessing the level of development in Ukrainian communities and the effectiveness of local governance.
The primary goal of the Index is to enable communities to track their dynamics and progress across five key dimensions that reflect various aspects of community life: economy, social sphere, politics and governance, security, and civic engagement.
The presentation brought together community development experts who shared the current vision for the Index’s structure. A suggested version includes an integrated Community Success Index. A distinctive feature of the methodology is its combination of both factual indicators, like statistics or secondary data, and evaluative indicators based on community member surveys. This approach helps measure the effectiveness of invested resources in tangible improvements perceived by residents.
The Info Sapiens research center, as Index’s developers, emphasized the importance of engaging the professional community during the refinement stage of the methodology. Expert experience is key to shaping the most accurate and effective tool for assessing community development.
The Index methodology should be finalized in the coming months and piloted in the first three communities. Follow our updates to be among the first to learn how to measure the Community Development Success Index in your area.
