Life under occupation does not stop. It narrows, contracts to daily routines, a mobile signal, a voice reaching from free territory. Belonging becomes a conscious choice, and connection with Ukraine becomes a daily act. Even where roads are broken and institutions fall silent, the most important thing endures: the sense of ‘we’.

We will discuss this on December 5 at the XIV Civil Society Forum during the session on Building Bridges: How to Maintain Connections with Ukrainians Living Under Temporary Occupation, jointly organized with the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU), funded by the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Speakers will share practical experience, highlight key findings from recent research on the media, cultural, and narrative landscape of temporarily occupied territories, and discuss approaches that help people remain connected to Ukraine, even amid blockposts and information barriers.

Speakers:

Askad Ashurbekov, Strategic Advisor, YES NGO.

Yelyzaveta Zharkykh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, media platform Vgoru.

Yevheniia Hlebova, Head of the Novomykolaivka Military Administration, Skadovsk District, Kherson Oblast.

Oleksandr Poznii, Director, Active Group Research Company.

Yuliia Boklah, Board Member, Helping to Leave Charity Organization.

Oleksii Kovzhun, host of GRUNT Media YouTube projects, media expert, and communications specialist, will moderate the discussion.

This is a conversation about people, memory, and connections that have no borders.

Participant registration (until 30 November).
