In partnership with the International Renaissance Foundation, a panel discussion on Ukraine 3.0: How Can We Become the Centre of a New Geometry of Democratic Alliances? took place during the XIV Civil Society Forum. The discussion focused on Ukraine’s future role in a rapidly changing world.

Discussion aimed to shape a vision of Ukraine as one of the key centers of a new architecture of democratic alliances − not only as a country defending itself, but as a full-fledged actor and co-creator of international partnerships based on solidarity, security, and shared values.

The panel featured Orysia Lutsevych, Head of the Ukraine Forum at Chatham House; Pascal Gielen, Professor of Sociology of Art and Cultural Politics at the University of Antwerp; Edwin Bendik, President of the Stefan Batory Foundation; Olha Aivazovska, Chair of the Board of the Civic Network OPORA, international expert on electoral processes and parliamentary affairs, and co-founder of ICUV; and Wilfried Jilge, researcher at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta, Director General of the Mystetskyi Arsenal, moderated the discussion.

The discussion combined two dimensions: global and Ukrainian. At the global level, participants explored how the war in Ukraine is reshaping the rules of global politics, understandings of democracy, and mechanisms of international cooperation. At the Ukrainian level, the focus was on the internal transformations Ukraine must undertake now to move from the status of a frontier country to becoming one of the centers of innovative democratic practices.

The full recording of the discussion is available on the ISAR Ednannia YouTube channel.
