How can organisations be led when the rules are constantly changing? How can decisions be made without having all the answers? And how can organisations move beyond simply responding to challenges and start shaping the change they want to see?
These were the questions explored by participants of the Strategic Thinking School for Leaders of Civil Society Organisations.
Five days to step back from day-to-day operations and take a strategic look at their organisations.Together with expert Oleksandra Baklanova, participants:
🔹 analysed their organisations’ experiences during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine and re-examined the decisions they had made;
🔹 explored different future scenarios to prepare for change rather than simply react to it;
🔹 examined what helps leaders and teams maintain resilience, trust, and the ability to act under prolonged pressure;
🔹 identified the areas where their organisations could have the greatest impact and turn their efforts into meaningful change.
The School provided a space not only to work with strategic planning tools but also to reflect on past experiences, exchange perspectives, and explore new solutions.
For us, supporting our grantees means more than providing resources to implement projects. We also create opportunities to develop leadership, strengthen organisational capacity, and foster strategic thinking - all of which help organisations grow and increase their impact.After all, strong organisations are about more than successfully implemented projects. They are teams that can adapt, anticipate future challenges, and make decisions that bring the change they want to see closer to reality.
The Strategic Thinking School for Leaders of Civil Society Organisations was held with the support of the Askold and Dir Fund, with funding from Norway and Sweden.
