The grant competition is aimed at supporting civil society organizations implementing practical initiatives at the local level to restore full-fledged life in communities affected by Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The focus is not so much on physical reconstruction as on the recovery of societal processes, systems, human potential, and the usual flow of life, particularly with an emphasis on guiding communities back toward sustainable development and growth.
This grant competition is implemented by the Norwegian-Swedish Askold and Dir Fund, administered by ISAR Ednannia as a part of the Strong Civil Society of Ukraine − a Driver towards Reforms and Democracy project, funded by Norway and Sweden.
The Towards Life: Communities in Action Grant Competition for CSOs includes six lots:
- Lot 1. Restoring educational processes.
- Lot 2. Restoring social services.
- Lot 3. Restoring access to healthcare.
- Lot 4. Restoring culture and work with memory and identity.
- Lot 5. Restoring safety and security.
- Lot 6. Cross-cutting solutions for sustainable recovery.
Applicants may submit no more than two project proposals under this competition, either under different Lots or within the same Lot. However, only one application per organization may be selected for funding.
Applications will be accepted until 5:00 PM on July 28, 2025. Approximately 20-30 organizations are expected to receive support under this competition.
The expected project duration is between 6 and 12 months.
