The public presentation of the three-year EU Unity4Community Project, implemented with the support of the European Union, took place at the ISAR Ednannia Civil Society Home. The event brought together representatives of the Ukrainian government, civil society organizations, international partners, and experts to discuss key challenges and prospects for the development of civil society.
Strengthening Civil Society – Priority for the EU
The Project aims to enhance the role of CSOs in the processes of reform, recovery, and European integration. Asier Santillán, Head of the European Integration, Governance, Rule of Law, and Civil Society section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, emphasized the crucial role of civil society in Ukraine’s European integration process:
"For the European Union, the CSOs are an important pillar of the European integration. We are looking forward to facilitating access to support for those civil society organizations that are not in major cities and are smaller initiatives and do not have the experience in implementing EU-funded projects,” said Asier Santillán.
The project aims to strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) as a driving force for change in communities, enhance their role in development initiatives, and improve the culture of partnership between local authorities and civil society.
ISAR Ednannia Executive Director Volodymyr Sheyhus emphasized this project will serve as a powerful tool to reinforce the role of CSOs in recovery and development processes:
"ISAR Ednannia is launching a new project through which the EU supports communities. Within this project, together with local stakeholders, who often play an even greater role in community development, we are uniting for the future of our country," he noted.
