"In a time of unprecedented challenges for our country, the Ukrainian civil society shows incredible resilience and strength. However, to keep moving forward and ensure the long-term sustainability of these organizations, it is crucial to diversify funding sources and tap into new markets. National fundraising resources are decreasing, but the world is still full of opportunities," says Svitlana Pugach.
At the Summit, during the workshop, Svitlana will discuss why international fundraising is essential and how it can help Ukrainian foundations ensure their sustainability and effectively expand funding sources.
On May 14, 2024, ISAR Ednannia will host a panel discussion titled ‘What Should We Do About Telegram?’.
The recent blocking and subsequent restoration of official Ukrainian Telegram bots have reignited discussions about the need to restrict the use of this Russian messenger. Specifically, this concerns civil society organizations (CSOs), which extensively utilize the service due to its apparent technical advantages.
During the panel discussion ‘What Should We Do About Telegram?’, we will discuss the following questions:

Ukraine has been actively pursuing European integration since the signing of the Association Agreement in 2014. In 2022, Russia's unprovoked full-scale invasion and resilience of Ukrainian society with a clear view of its European future became a powerful impetus to submit a formal application for EU membership and step-up efforts to prepare for deeper integration at all levels and across all sectors. As a result, in December 2023, EU leaders approved a decision to start accession negotiations with Ukraine.
The success of the EU-Ukraine negotiation process on accession will require the consolidation of efforts of all branches of the Ukrainian government, public institutions, as well as the active support of CSOs and experts.
On 9 May, the EuroSummit of CSOs will take place in Kyiv during Europe Day. The forum is organized by EasyBusiness with the support of ISAR Ednannia within the framework of the project Ukraine Civil Society Sectoral Support Activity, and in partnership with the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The forum will gather representatives of Ukrainian civil society from various fields, in particular climate and green transition, agriculture, human capital, entrepreneurship, and public administration reform.
Location: Kyiv.
Format: offline and online broadcasting with simultaneous UA-EN interpretation of the panel part (10:00-15:15).
Date and time: May 9, 10:00 - 18:00
Registration: 9:15 – 10:00
Audience: 150 representatives of CSOs, the Ukrainian government, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, international development partners of Ukraine, think tanks and media.
The EuroSummit of CSOs will gather experts, public activists, the Ukrainian government and EU representatives in Kyiv to develop a common vector of work during Ukraine’s EU accession process.
What opportunities will Ukraine’s accession to the EU open up for the country's economy and the development of civil society? What is the role of CSOs in the accession process to the EU? How did the civil society sector in EU candidate member states assist their governments in the accession negotiations? Several panel discussions and workshops will open up opportunities for broad discussion and insights.
What activities are expected? Presentations of research results by EasyBusiness NGO, panel discussions with representatives of the Ukrainian government, European Union and experts, workshop and networking aiming to develop proposals for scenarios of involvement of CSOs in the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's EU membership. Thematic groups will formulate a joint statement on the participation of the Ukrainian civil society in Ukraine's EU accession process.
EuroSummit participants will deepen their understanding of the work of the EU institutions, expand their network of contacts and partners from civil society, think tanks, the Ukrainian government, the EU and international development partners.
